Book Donation Guidelines
Email info@booksthroughbarsnyc.org for approval to donate books.
Once approved, you may drop off at our Red Hook location. Drop off times are Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM to 5 PM, or Tuesdays after 6:30 PM.
Don’t send mail or parcels our address. We do not make book pickups. However, if you have many books from the categories listed below and absolutely cannot drop them off, you may inquire about alternatives.
We can’t accept more than 3 medium boxes of books at a time. We can’t accept hardcover books because most prisons don’t allow them, and they are more expensive to mail. Don’t donate books we aren’t currently asking for. Don’t donate out-of-date texts. We are working with limited resources and space. If you bring books we are unable to accept, we may send you back with them.
