Book Donation Guidelines
If you have book donations in the following categories, email info@booksthroughbarsnyc.org or DM us @booksthroughbarsnyc for approval
Once approved, you may drop off in Brooklyn at 123 Columbia Street , Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM to 8 PM, or Tuesdays after 6:30 PM.
Please don’t send mail or parcels to this address. We do not make book pickups. However, if you have many books from the categories listed below and absolutely cannot drop them off, email us to inquire about alternatives.
We generally can’t accept more than 5 medium-size boxes of books at a time. We can’t accept hardcover books because most prisons don’t allow them, and they are more expensive to mail. Please, don’t donate categories we aren’t currently asking for, out-of-date or obscure texts. We’ve got an overflow of general fiction, plays, short stories, poetry, and writing textbooks. We are working with limited resources and space, and donations we can’t use are cumbersome.
